About the Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance Group, a leading provider of insurance solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Head of Technical Casualty Claims. This role will be based in our Manchester office, where you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering exceptional customer experiences.

As Head of Technical Casualty Claims, you will be responsible for leading the technical development of our claims teams, ensuring that our customers receive the highest level of service and support. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping our claims strategy, driving innovation, and improving our operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership: Provide inspirational leadership to our claims teams, driving motivation, development, and performance.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure the delivery of exceptional customer experiences while containing costs.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with our customers, underwriting teams, and suppliers to drive business growth and revenue generation.
  • Claims Handling: Develop and implement technical claims handling standards and strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Referral Point: Provide expert advice and direction on complex claims, collaborating with external professionals as needed.
  • Research and Development: Participate in market forums, researching and implementing new procedures and techniques for handling claims.
  • Training and Development: Lead the technical development of our claims staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Audit and Evaluation: Manage a proactive audit and evaluation program to ensure cost targets and service outcomes are achieved.
  • Financial Authority: Set and monitor financial authorities within the claims teams to ensure the right people are handling claims at the right level.
  • Fraud Prevention: Develop and implement a comprehensive fraud claims handling strategy to prevent and detect fraudulent activities.
  • Claims Portfolio Management: Work closely with our performance analyst and actuaries to manage our claims portfolio, identifying leading and lagging indicators for action.
  • Reinsurance: Develop close relationships with our reinsurance team and reinsurers to ensure confidence in our claims operation.
  • Supply Chain Management: Drive strong relationships across our supply chain, ensuring regular and timely feedback on performance.
Requirements
  • ACII / FCII qualification with significant claims experience.
  • Strong negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
  • A proven track record of developing claims strategies in casualty, with a history of delivering measurable value.
  • Proven strong influencing and stakeholder skills.
  • A detailed knowledge of abuse claim handling techniques, leading our team of abuse claim handlers.
