**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at Proximity Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the daily operations of our children's home, ensuring the highest standards of care and support for our young people.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Manager to oversee the daily running of the children's home, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and provide guidance, support, direction, and leadership to staff, taking on managerial responsibilities in the Manager's absence.
- Model best practice approaches during challenging behaviors, ensuring consistent high levels of care.
- Collaborate with the senior management team to ensure the best interests of our young people, staff, and the company are met.
Key Tasks:
- Ensure policies, procedures, and frameworks are up-to-date and effectively implemented, reflecting best practice and the company's culture.
- Establish and use methods to evaluate the quality of care provided by staff, making improvements where necessary and encouraging continuous improvement.
- Model best practice approaches to working with and supporting children with challenging behaviors.
- Ensure regular use of effective handovers and debriefs for staff.
- Participate in the placement of children and their transition process in and out of the home.
- Regularly review the staffing structure and support HR with recruitment, induction, and training.
- Support the Manager in reviewing the budget needs within the home.
- Ensure daily practice within the homes reflects the equality and diversity goals of the company and the needs of staff and young people.
- Work effectively with all professionals and multi-agencies required for the best care of our young people.
- Conduct supervisions and welfare meetings, and attend disciplinary meetings with the Manager/HR as required.
- Provide consistent leadership, ensuring staff feel respected, listened to, and supported.
- Work with the Manager to implement performance plans for staff requiring additional support, assessing skill gaps and working with HR to provide training and mentoring.
- Support the Manager in conducting probationary reviews and appraisals.
- Directly manage team leaders, ensuring they have the necessary skills to lead support workers within their teams.
- Participate in scheduling shifts and working on the rota to ensure the home is staffed appropriately and adequately.
- Ensure staff, visitors, and young people are safeguarded daily, and health and safety protocols are followed according to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Work with staff to ensure positive outcomes, reducing incidents, and providing a safe environment for young people, visitors, and staff.
- Report and whistleblow any work situation deemed to cause imminent danger and shortcomings of the employer's protection arrangements.
- Monitor and maintain standards against agreed criteria and objectives, implementing quality assurance systems reflecting agreed good practice.
