Job Title: Principal Planner

We are seeking an experienced Principal Planner to join our team at West Oxfordshire District Council. As a key member of our Planning Service, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our communities.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of planners and contribute to the development of high-quality, sustainable places. You will be responsible for leading on a variety of high-profile projects, including the Salt Cross Garden Village strategic development area and the development of a new world-class car museum at Enstone.

As a Principal Planner, you will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire your team. You will also need to be a strategic thinker, with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex planning challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of planners in the development of high-quality, sustainable places
  • Contribute to the development of planning policies and strategies
  • Lead on high-profile projects, including the Salt Cross Garden Village and the Enstone car museum
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex planning challenges
  • Provide guidance and support to junior planners
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A degree in planning or a related field
  • Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI)
  • Substantial experience in planning, preferably in a leadership role
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • A strong understanding of planning policies and strategies
