Lead Our Planning Service

We are seeking an experienced Principal Planner to join our team at West Oxfordshire District Council. As a key member of our Planning Service, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our communities.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a tight-knit team of planners and contribute to the delivery of high-profile and complex planning projects. You will be responsible for leading on a variety of projects, including pre-application enquiries, planning applications, appeals, and post-application work.

As a Principal Planner, you will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire your team to deliver exceptional results. You will also be responsible for continuously improving services and developing products to meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of planners to deliver high-profile and complex planning projects
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to meet customer needs
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve project goals
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members
Requirements
  • Planning or related degree
  • Full Membership or eligibility for the RTPI
  • Substantial relevant professional experience
  • Experience of being involved in continuously improving services and developing products to meet customer need
