Active Care Group Recruitment is a leading provider of complex care in the UK.
We are seeking a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit in London. Located in trendy South East London, this unit has a 19-bed Level 1 Highly Specialist Cognitive-Behavioural ward and a Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward with 18 beds.
The successful candidate will be part of an enthusiastic, supportive, and experienced team where they will exercise complex clinical reasoning in assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning. As a key member of the Occupational Therapy team, they will hold their own caseload of patients across both wards.
Our team works collaboratively with neurology, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and social work professionals to provide high-quality patient-centred care. The Blackheath Brain Injury Unit is a renowned centre for complex neurorehabilitation and is part of the Active Care Group Neuro Network, which focuses on using clinical expertise, innovation, and technology to meet patients' expectations of their rehabilitation goals.
We offer a strong ethos of patient-centred high-quality care that drives clinical and administrative decision-making. We value staff wellbeing and have made exciting new renovations to the wards. We also offer support and funding towards postgraduate training such as the PgCert in Sensory Integration.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about neurological rehabilitation, delivering high-quality patient care, and working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team. They will be required to deputise for the Lead Occupational Therapist when needed, assist the MDT in diagnosis, problem formulation, and planning of rehabilitation programmes, and function as a Key Worker/Named Therapist to ensure active coordination and management of the therapeutic programme.
The role includes prescribing and providing equipment for patients during their rehabilitation journey, maintaining records and clinical notes, developing and delivering in-service education and training programs, supervising junior members of staff, and keeping people safe from harm and protecting their human rights.
To be successful in this role, candidates will need to have HCPC registration, RCOT registration, previous experience of working in a neurorehabilitation setting, ability to motivate patients over long periods, supervision experience, and a willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS.
We are committed to ensuring individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable facilities to participate in job applications or interviews to perform essential job functions. We are a Disability Confident committed employer.
This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for a highly skilled professional who wants to make a difference in the lives of patients with complex needs.
