About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Dundee City Council's Construction Services team as a skilled Carpenter and Joiner. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of Carpentry and Joinery work across a range of domestic and non-domestic properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, repairs, refurbishment, and newbuild/installations to the highest standard, ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety legislation and company safe systems of work.
- Work on a variety of projects, including domestic and non-domestic properties, to deliver a high-quality and cost-effective service to meet customer and service expectations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of construction projects, working closely with other trades and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Self-diagnose and repair issues, requisition materials, and read and understand architectural drawings to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Work at heights and in confined spaces, and have a current driving license to facilitate travel to project sites.
Requirements
- Hold a time-served apprenticeship, Modern Apprenticeship, City & Guilds, or SVQ 3, or equivalent, in Carpentry and Joinery.
- Have broad experience in all aspects of the trade, including first fix, second fix, and final fix, as well as window and fire door installations and maintenance.
- Be able to self-diagnose repairs, work, and site size, and requisition materials as needed.
- Have a broad knowledge of other trades and the ability to co-ordinate works and understand Health and Safety Regulations.
