About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Sister/Charge Nurse to join our team at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering high-quality care to neonates and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong clinical leadership skills to support the effective management of the ward/department.
  • Deputise, assist, and support the Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse in the establishment of an efficient working environment.
  • Co-ordinate the day-to-day management of the clinical area, delegating duties and care appropriately while maintaining overall responsibility.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (RGN/RSCN/Child Branch) on the NMC register.
  • BSc/1st degree (health-related) or equivalent qualification/training/experience.
  • Specialist Neonatal Qualification.
  • Mentorship/teaching qualification.

Knowledge

Essential:

  • Knowledge in Neonatal Intensive Care cases and interventions.
  • Knowledge of Family Integrated Care and BFI.
  • Knowledge of neonatal EPR systems such as Badgernet.

Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in managing a ward, including management of rotas, managing competencies, resources, and staff.
  • Experience of teaching/assessing/supervising others in a clinical setting.
  • Substantial experience in neonatal intensive care nursing.

Skills

Essential:

  • Able to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients/clients and give relevant advice/information to patients and relatives.
  • Ability to administer prescribed medication, including transfusion of blood and administration of blood products.
