About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operative to join our team at Network Rail. As an Operative, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of our rail network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in a small team to support essential maintenance tasks, ensuring the rail network runs safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users.
  • Develop technical skills across a range of manual, electrical, and digital equipment, including signals, level crossings, and points systems.
  • Work outdoors in all conditions, at all times of the year, day or night, and be involved in demanding manual work, often with the need to transport kit across tricky terrain.
  • Be safety-focused, respectful of rules, and a team player, working next to moving trains traveling at high speed.
  • Support your team in maintaining equipment and provide lookout duties to keep the whole team safe.
Requirements
  • Experience of working in an environment where safety is vital.
  • Ability to work shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
  • Team player with good communication skills, both in person and in writing.
  • Keen to develop new skills and meet the required benchmark for application screening questions.
