About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join The University of Edinburgh's Technical Operations section with responsibility for the management of the institution's infrastructure level services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert administration of key systems including Gitlab, Puppet, Prometheus/Alertmanager, Elasticsearch, Sentry, Grafana, Log shipping, Kubernetes, Postgres, VPN, and New Relic.
  • Support and maintain EDINA IT infrastructure to ensure day-to-day smooth running, with minimal downtime of EDINA's income-generating services.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate measurement, quality control, and management processes to maintain service levels consistently.
  • Maintaining staff device inventory ensuring alignment with information security requirements.

About You:

  • You will have considerable experience of managing key systems used by EDINA to deliver service resilience.
  • You will have good people skills able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You will be strongly technical, ideally with experience of cloud service delivery.
  • You will have knowledge of best practice cluster management.
