Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a skilled Financial Controls Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on related reconciliations and wider controls within Customer Payroll, ensuring they are managed to the agreed tolerances and adhere to the agreed deadlines. This role will also involve delivering the KPI dashboard, reporting on the health of our related accounts, Payroll accuracy and controls, and ensuring we are operating resilient, effective controls on the service we provide.

Key Tasks:

  • Ensuring the agreed reconciliation KPI are being adhered to, working with the wider team to establish regular reporting and circulating the dashboard for Payroll leadership and wider leadership/committee packs.
  • Supporting payroll & reconciliation managers with control attestations (evidence and documentation), keeping a record of any control failures, risk events, and issues to ensure accuracy in the controls and drive future mitigations.
  • Supporting the shaping, development, and continuous improvement of controls frameworks across our core processes and systems, assisting seniors with testing of design, implementation, and operational effectiveness of internal controls within customer payroll.
  • Coordinating the creation of all reconciliation and operational process guides, ensuring clear and up-to-date documentation, managing EUCs, and coordinating regular reviews with criticality assessments.
  • Ensuring reporting on outstanding reconciliations is completed in a timely basis to determine the level of exposure on outstanding items for balance sheet management, including managing, escalating key risks, and delivering controls in line with the risk management framework and regulations to minimize the impact on retail annuities.
  • Consumer Duty: Ensuring that the principles of Conduct Risk are embedded into day-to-day operations to deliver good customer outcomes at all times, ensuring that all business processes and internal controls within the role are designed and performed in a way that delivers good customer outcomes and demonstrates effective management of Conduct Risk.
  • Supporting colleagues and being an advocate for risk culture best practice, sharing knowledge and guidance.
  • Supporting the ongoing work relating to overall operational resilience and assisting seniors in incident management, project work activity related to the risk, governance, and compliance elements within customer Payroll.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes, reconciliation management, and how things fit together.
  • Basic payroll processing and reasoning.
  • Basic accounting processing and reasoning.
  • Risk and control management.
  • Excel.
  • Analysis reconciliations.
  • Reporting and dashboard creation.
  • Presenting information.
