Job Title: Qualified HGV Mechanic

We are seeking a qualified and experienced HGV mechanic to join our team at Auto Skills UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine vehicle maintenance to DVSA standards, preparing and presenting vehicles and trailers for MOT inspection, and maintaining good housekeeping and H&S requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 / City & Guilds or NVQ qualification in motor vehicle maintenance and repair, as well as a valid HGV license. In addition to technical skills, the ability to work safely and efficiently, with attention to detail and excellent communication skills, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to meet DVSA standards, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance to ensure vehicle safety and efficiency, using diagnostic tools and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance and repairs, including service history and any issues identified.
  • Prepare vehicles and trailers for MOT inspection, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Present vehicles and trailers in a clean and presentable condition, adhering to company standards.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, following all relevant health and safety procedures and reporting any safety concerns to management.

Salary Estimate: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
