Key Responsibilities- Conduct Strategic Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis at a strategic, tactical, and operational level to identify patterns, trends, and gaps in intelligence. Utilize advanced analytical tools and techniques to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
- Develop Intelligence Collection Plans: Assist in the development of intelligence collection plans to ensure effective communication of intelligence to operational officers and other stakeholders.
- Stay Up-to-Date with Intelligence Trends: Develop and maintain knowledge of current intelligence trends, crime patterns, and national security threats.
- Provide Expert Advice: Utilize your subject matter expertise to advise senior officers on pathways of resolution and provide evidence-based analysis to support informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with internal customers to provide advice and interpret policies, legislation, and practice to ensure informed decision-making.
- Provide Expert Testimony: Provide evidential analysis and professional witness testimony to the highest standard to secure the successful prosecution of offenders involved in serious and organized crime.
- Stay Current with Innovation: Maintain awareness of innovation within intelligence and analysis to ensure implementation of the latest techniques, tactics, products, best practices, and information relevant to the role.
- Retrieve and Analyze Complex Information: Retrieve and analyze complex information from forensic lab reports for inclusion in analysis and intelligence products.
- Adhere to National Intelligence Model: Undertake all analytical functions in preparation of National Intelligence Model products, in accordance with the Analysis Authorized Professional Practice guidance set by the College of Policing.
- Handle Official Information: Work to a high level of integrity, routinely handling official information, and following GPMS and other guidance with regard to handling and storing this data.
- Comply with Legislation and Policies: Adhere to all legislation, working principles, policies, and guidance relevant to the role.
- Provide Horizon Scanning Products: Provide effective horizon scanning products through proactive scanning research and subsequent analysis of research.
- Professional Development: Enrol in the College of Policing Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) Qualification and continued IPP compliance.
- Training and Development: Undertake training as and when required.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Experience of collating, evaluating, structuring, and processing data to identify patterns, series, similarities, and discrepancies within a variety of information types.
- Complex Data Simplification: Evidence of working with, interpreting, and simplifying complex data sets.
- Microsoft Skills: Highly competent in the use of Microsoft packages, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Self-Motivation and Initiative: Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision and use own initiative.
- National Intelligence Model Knowledge: Evidence of a good understanding of the requirements of the National Intelligence Model (NIM).
- Threat Trends and Organizational Knowledge: Knowledge of current threat trends and organizational, policy issues relevant to the criminal use of firearms.
- Databases and Statistical Models: Experience of using databases to input and extract data, and experience of the use of statistical and risk models.
- Relevant Analytical Tools: Experience of relevant analytical tools, such as iBASE, i2 analyst notebook, GIS applications, and other customized databases.
- Bias Recognition: Ability to recognize conscious/unconscious biases associated with intelligence analysis.
- Law Enforcement Experience: Experience as an Intelligence Analyst within a law enforcement agency (LEA).
Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, including a full background and financial disclosure as part of the vetting process. Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully passing medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
Working Hours and LocationFull-Time (36.5 hours) 08:00- 16:00 Monday - Friday. Central Birmingham Based Office.
