Job Summary

RPS Group is seeking an experienced Extraction Chemist to join our Laboratory Team in a fast-paced, commercial laboratory environment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the preparation and extraction of samples, covering a wide range of environmental contaminants in different sample types.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform various types of sample extraction and preparation, adhering to established quality procedures.
  • Maintain a working stock of consumables and chemicals essential for daily activities and tasks.
  • Conduct a range of laboratory checks, including calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment such as pipettes, balances, and other bench tools.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that all routine laboratory tasks are completed, ensuring the Laboratory operates smoothly.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory skills and techniques, including the use of pipettes, balances, syringes, titrations, and dilutions.
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to cope under pressure.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, seeking advice when necessary.
  • Understanding of Quality Control/Quality Assurance processes and their importance within a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
