About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Team Manager to join our CLA (Children Looked After) Team in Durham. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the management and oversight of social workers, ensuring high-quality care and support for children and young people in care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Team Manager in managing a team of social workers, providing supervision, guidance, and support to ensure high standards of practice.
  • Oversee the care planning and case management for children looked after, ensuring their safety, well-being, and developmental needs are met.
  • Monitor the progress of cases, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and adherence to safeguarding policies.
  • Provide leadership in court work, supporting social workers in the preparation of reports and attendance at court hearings.
  • Work collaboratively with external agencies, foster carers, and other professionals to provide holistic support for children and families.
Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role, particularly within a CLA or similar team.
  • In-depth knowledge of children's social care legislation, safeguarding procedures, and court processes.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and maintain high standards of practice.
