This role is a key position within the Avionics Business Stream of General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada. As a Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for leading the procurement team to ensure the successful acquisition of components and materials necessary to support the business unit's financial and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and Coordinate Procurement Team Activities: Oversee the procurement team to ensure the successful support of commodity and service procurement requirements of internal customers, primarily manufacturing and development/IRAD.
- Manage Indirect and Direct Commodity Procurement: Oversee the procurement of indirect and direct commodities, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Review and Negotiate Terms and Conditions: Review and negotiate terms and conditions to ensure the business is legally covered, de-risked, and profitable.
- Focus on Cost Savings/Avoidance: Focus on cost savings/avoidance through supplier cost negotiation, process improvements/enhancements, utilizing the AWAR and design to cost processes.
- Manage Supplier Performance: Manage supplier performance with regard to Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Manage SCM Risk and Opportunity Management: Manage the SCM risk and opportunity management process to provide an analytical approach to identifying risk, assess impact, develop mitigation strategies, and understand trends to predict future risk and opportunities.
Requirements:
- Strategic Procurement Experience: Proven experience in strategic procurement and subcontract management, ideally in the aerospace, defense, government, or project-driven manufacturing environment.
- Tactical and Strategic Environments: Experience working in both tactical and strategic environments, with the ability to establish and align the team around strategic business objectives.
- Leadership and Influence: Strong leadership and influence skills, with the ability to challenge the norm, identify, and manage 'best practice' change implementation of processes and procedures.
- Communication and Negotiation Skills: Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate issues and possible solutions.
- Financial Experience: Strong financial experience, with the ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Qualifications: Preferably holding CIPS, APM, or equivalent qualifications.
