Charters Retirement Village, a leading provider of retirement living services, is seeking an experienced Head Chef to join our team. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations within our dining facilities.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing kitchen staff, planning and creating nutritious and appealing menus, ensuring food safety and quality standards, and fostering a positive dining experience for our residents.
Main Responsibilities:- Manage the preparation and cooking of food, ensuring high-quality standards and customer satisfaction.
- Plan, organize, and direct kitchen operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards, including HACCP and COSHH.
- Manage kitchen stock, including ordering, storage, and rotation.
- Conduct monthly stock takes and maintain accurate records.
- Implement and maintain food monitoring procedures to facilitate budgetary control.
- Collective responsibility for food and beverage costs.
- Plan and implement health options into menus.
- Ensure the kitchen is clean and tidy, with regular deep cleans.
- Report any incidents or accidents to the General Manager.
- Previous experience of working with the elderly over 65 cohort.
- Previous experience within care, hospitality, or leisure industry within a similar role.
- Experience of managing a team.
- Professional Cookery Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
- Passion for great food and excellent service, logistics, and delivery.
- Financially astute with regards to food costings and margin management.
- Genuine caring approach to the elderly, with the ability to think carefully and accurately during hectic periods.
