Head Chef Job Description

Charters Retirement Village, a leading provider of retirement living services, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to join their team. As a key member of the culinary team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations within the village's dining facilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct the preparation and cooking of food, ensuring high-quality standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Plan and create nutritious and appealing menus, taking into account the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
  • Oversee the kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective food production.
  • Implement and maintain food safety and quality control procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage food costs, inventory, and waste, with a focus on budgetary control and cost savings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of ingredients and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and execute special events and functions, such as holiday meals and themed dining experiences.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or senior culinary leader in a similar environment.
  • Professional Cookery Level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong financial management skills, with experience of managing budgets and controlling costs.
  • Passion for delivering high-quality food and exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on attention to detail and quality control.
