Job Title: Mine Planning Engineer (Maternity Cover)

Location: St Austell, Cornwall

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday

Contract: Fixed-term contract for 12 months

Salary: £42,000 per annum

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join our team at Imerys. As a Mine Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for defining reserves to access raw material for BA operations. Your role will involve providing mine optimization, analysis, design, and mine planning/scheduling across mining sites in Cornwall.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medium to long-term planning to support extraction of mineral assets
  • Create long-term schedules for waste dumps
  • Create pit and dump designs to ensure optimization of operational resources and maintain production and quality targets
  • Support the operating schedules and budget process
  • Provide support to mining and production managers and professionals in operations and projects
  • Train site engineers in short-term and mid-term mine planning
  • Ensure compliance with the PERC code for public reporting of reserves

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent IT skills, including familiarity with major design and mine planning software packages
  • Knowledge of GIS and surveying would be an advantage
  • Degree-level qualification in Science or Engineering, ideally Mining Engineering or Mining Geology
  • Direct and relevant experience working in a mining environment
  • Production experience necessary, with a few years' relevant experience in mine planning and mine designs in the mining environment
  • Intention to register as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer following professional training and experience
  • Full driving license
