We are looking for an experienced Water Quality Manager to lead our environmental protection efforts in the West Midlands. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of both recreational and drinking water, conducting site investigations and water quality assurance, and implementing proactive environmental measures.

This role involves overseeing water sampling and monitoring, investigating statutory nuisances, and ensuring regulatory compliance and enforcement. The successful candidate will also provide specialist advice on water quality, contamination, and environmental protection to other Council departments.

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Water Sampling and Monitoring: Develop, implement, and manage routine water sampling protocols to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, oversee the discharge of duties concerning the quality of recreational and drinking water.
  2. Statutory Nuisance and Pollution Control: Investigate complaints related to statutory nuisances, take decisive action to prevent their recurrence, prepare and issue statutory notices, and focus particularly on nuisances that impact water quality and public health.
  3. Regulatory Compliance and Enforcement: Adopt a proactive enforcement approach, including the service of statutory notices, evidence gathering, and court attendance where necessary, to ensure adherence to legal requirements for environmental protection.
  4. Proactive Environmental Measures: Plan and deliver proactive environmental work aligned with Section duties, providing specialist advice on water quality, contamination, and environmental protection to other Council departments.
