Sheldon Phillips Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Work Independent Reviewing Officer to join our team in Children's Services. As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being and safety of looked-after children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and chair looked-after children's reviews within statutory timescales, prioritizing the child's needs and ensuring their thoughts and feelings are considered in the planning process.
  • Review and monitor the effectiveness of care plans for looked-after children, ensuring that agreed actions are being progressed and that there is no drift in permanency planning.
  • Ensure that care plans are promptly implemented, and that agreed actions are being progressed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor the Local Authority's review of looked-after children's care plans, ensuring that actions required to implement the care plan are progressed and carried out in a timely manner.
  • Endorse care plans, make and record recommendations, and actions required to meet the reviewed child's needs, achieving timely outcomes.
  • Make recommendations about discontinuing child protection plans for children subject to such plans who become looked after.
  • Refer to relevant Senior Managers cases and practice that are not addressing the care plan and implement guidance and procedure for the referral to CAFCASS where the criteria for doing so is met.
  • Meet with children to ascertain their wishes and feelings and ensure that these are considered within the planning and review process.
