Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Credit Risk Manager to join our team at Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. As a key member of the credit risk management team, you will be responsible for delivering credit risk analysis on the firm's private client borrowers and risk counterparts.

About the Role

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of private clients across EMEA, requiring a deep understanding of credit fundamentals, market trends, and regulatory requirements.

  • Main Responsibilities
  • Assess the credit and financial strength of private client borrowers and risk counterparts by performing fundamental credit analysis using quantitative and qualitative factors.
  • Review lending transactions, determine fit with risk appetite, and approve counterparty risk ratings, having developed an independent view of financial information, collateral terms, and key documentation protections proposed.
  • Support senior credit team members in reviewing and escalating large lending transactions, including participation in business selection committee meetings.
  • Coordinate with junior team members on transactions, client margin terms, product risk analysis, and new policy & product initiatives.
  • Collaborate with PWM business teams, legal, operations, and compliance departments to approve derivatives business, margin terms, exceptions, and ensure appropriate documentation, limits, and risk mitigants to protect against counterpart default and minimize potential losses.
  • Analyze risks inherent in products transacted, including lending, trading, and derivative products.
  • Perform regular portfolio reviews and industry exposure reviews.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

A minimum of 8 years of experience in credit risk management, with a solid background in private client credit risk.Significant experience in private banking/private client credit products, including margin lending, mortgages, structured loans, and derivatives.Demonstrable track record of independent decision making and the ability to steer client and business negotiations.Strong analytical, presentational, and communication skills required.The ability to lead and motivate an engaged and diverse deal team, providing guidance to and supervision of junior members.Effective communication with senior levels within GS, both inside and outside of Credit Risk.
