Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled FEA Support Engineer to join our CAE Solver Group at Maya HTT. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) software systems, specifically SC03, a mission-critical thermo-mechanical FE-based CAE software used by hundreds of expert engineers to design gas turbines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Master SC03 software system: Achieve in-depth knowledge of SC03, a complex FEA simulation software system that performs thermo-mechanical, linear, and non-linear structural analysis for gas turbine design.
  • Client Support and Solutions: Understand client workflows, requirements, and needs, and recommend solutions and best practices in software support situations.
  • Software Defect Investigation and Troubleshooting: Investigate and troubleshoot software defects, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to client operations.
  • New Feature Development: Participate in new feature development through design, programming, and testing, contributing to the enhancement of SC03 and other CAE software tools.
  • Training and Documentation: Become proficient in delivering existing training courses and eventually become the tutor for these courses, as well as participate in the development of self-paced training courses.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document all work performed, ensuring accurate and comprehensive records of client interactions, software issues, and development activities.
  • Onsite Client Support: Work onsite at customers' facilities in Bristol, providing direct support and expertise to clients.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or other related fields with an emphasis on CAE or simulation.
  • Background in Numerical Methods: A background in numerical methods for structural or thermal analysis is desirable, including knowledge of finite element (FE) methods.
  • Communication and Analytical Skills: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as analytical and software programming skills, with experience in Fortran programming.
  • CAD/CAE Platforms and Engineering Processes: Knowledge of CAD/CAE platforms and engineering processes, with experience working with clients and team members across the globe.
  • Customer-Facing and Teamwork: Customer-facing, with the ability to work with clients and team members across the globe, and experience with CAD/CAE APIs is a strong asset.
  • DevOps Tools and Self-Motivation: Experience with DevOps tools is a plus, and self-motivated individuals who can work independently and as part of a team are encouraged to apply.
