This is an exciting opportunity to take on a crucial role as Matron of the forthcoming Lewisham Surgical Centre (LSC) for Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT).

About the Role

The Centre, currently under construction at the heart of University Hospital Lewisham, will be a cutting-edge facility serving all of south east London.

As part of this high-volume ENT day case procedures unit, you will lead a team of clinical nurse specialists and work closely with consultants and external partners to pioneer this new service at Lewisham Surgical Centre.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • To provide strong clinical leadership ensuring the smooth running of the surgical centre and strive for continuous productivity improvements to achieve national elective best practice standards.
  • To ensure that surgical centre activities focus on supporting patient care within available resources and in line with the strategic direction of the SEL Acute Provider Collaborative and the Trust.
  • To deliver excellent, patient-focused and cost-effective services which are responsive to the needs of patients, carers and General Practitioners and are in line with the Trust's strategic direction and service plans.
  • To identify risks within the area of responsibility and develop strategies to reduce and manage risk.
  • To influence strategic development to advance quality of care and enhance the patient experience.

Person Specification
  • Degree Registered nurse or theatres Practitioner Post registration qualification or equivalent experience in theatres specialty.
  • Master's degree in relevant discipline or in process of studying to Masters level or equivalent experience.
  • Teaching and assessing qualification.
  • Change or human factor training.

Estimated Salary: £60,000-£80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
