Job Overview

HFG Insurance Recruitment is seeking a skilled Development Underwriter to join a leading Lloyd's MGA in the Midlands region. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced underwriter to take on a key role in driving business growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development: Collaborate with key brokers to increase new business activity and build strong relationships.
  • Underwriting: Review and underwrite new business quotations across all products, ensuring compliance with underwriting appetite and SLAs.
  • Broker Engagement: Conduct regular broker visits and underwriting surgeries to increase brand awareness and establish contacts.
  • Escalation Point: Serve as a key point of contact for brokers and provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the technical underwriting team and key stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Strategic Planning: Regularly communicate with business development managers and regional directors to develop and maintain broker relationships and strategic planning.
  • Referral Point: Act as a referral point for underwriters within the wider team, providing support and guidance as needed.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a high level of customer service, ensuring that all work is completed within SLAs and broker relationships are nurtured.
  • Compliance: Operate in accordance with the underwriting license provided, utilize the underwriting guide, and collaborate with senior colleagues.
  • Initiative and Innovation: Take initiative to improve work processes and promote overall corporate goals, driving business growth and development.
  • Remote Work: Work from home with occasional visits to the London office when necessary.
