HFG Insurance Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Development Underwriter to join a leading Lloyd's MGA in the West Midlands area. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for building strong relationships with key brokers, underwriting new business quotations, and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Broker Relationship Management: Collaborate with key brokers to increase new business activity and build a strong network of contacts.
  • Underwriting and Risk Assessment: Review and underwrite new business quotations across all products within the underwriting appetite, ensuring compliance with SLAs.
  • Business Development: Undertake broker visits and underwriting surgeries to increase brand awareness and establish contacts.
  • Escalation Point: Serve as a point of contact for key brokers and provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Liaise with the technical underwriting team and key stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Strategic Planning: Regularly communicate with business development managers and regional directors to develop and maintain broker relationships and strategic planning.
  • Referral Point: Act as a referral point for underwriters within the wider team.
  • Customer Service: Provide a high level of customer service to brokers and ensure that all work is completed within SLAs.
  • Compliance and Governance: Operate in accordance with the underwriting license provided, utilize the underwriting guide, and collaborate with senior colleagues.
  • Initiative and Innovation: Take initiative to improve work processes and promote overall corporate goals.
  • Remote Work Arrangement: Work from home with occasional visits to the London office when necessary.
