Senior Technical Underwriter Opportunity

Cavendish Maine is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Underwriter to join our Commercial Underwriting team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in underwriting larger and more complex property and liability risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to drive growth and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Key Account Managers and the Underwriting team to build and maintain strong broker relationships.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to less experienced colleagues.
  • Identify opportunities for product development and improvement, and contribute to the development of new schemes.
  • Support the Head of Underwriting with governance, insurer relations, training, and other ad hoc tasks.

Requirements:

  • Extensive commercial property or liability underwriting experience.
  • Previous experience working for or with MGAs would be beneficial.
  • Experience of delegated authority and/or treaty binders.
  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
