Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Flood Modeller to join our team at Strata Construction Consulting.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in hydrology, hydraulic modelling, and river engineering, with experience working on flood risk assessments and drainage strategies for development projects.

As a key member of our Flood Risk & Drainage team, you will be responsible for leading bids in the private and public sectors, producing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and drainage strategies, and communicating flooding and drainage related constraints and opportunities at development sites.

You will also have the opportunity to work on exciting and varied projects, including sustainable drainage strategies for planning, due diligence flood risk advice to landowners, and flood studies in the public sector.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a good knowledge of the planning system, including policy and guidance, and be able to communicate complex technical information to clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading bids in the private and public sectors
  • Producing and reviewing FRAs and drainage strategies
  • Communicating flooding and drainage related constraints and opportunities
  • Working on sustainable drainage strategies for planning
  • Providing due diligence flood risk advice to landowners
  • Carrying out flood studies in the public sector

Requirements:

  • 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling experience
  • Hydrology experience, particularly with the Flood Estimation Handbook and ReFH2 and WINFAP
  • Good knowledge of the planning system and policy guidance
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information
  • Experience working on flood risk assessments and drainage strategies
