Shipping Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Shipping Manager to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for managing the global movement of goods via Sea, Air, and Road.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Confirm and process overseas sales and purchase orders.
  • Obtain quotations for the overseas movement of goods.
  • Liaise with shipping and transport companies to arrange shipments.
  • Arrange the booking-in of both export and import goods with the warehouse.
  • Advise shipping agents of cargo details for customs purposes.
  • Check documents raised by shipping agents, such as Bills of Lading.
  • Prepare export documentation, including invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other commercial documents.
  • Check export documents before presentation to banks/clients.
  • Presentation of import documents to clearing agents for cargo clearance.
  • Liaise with customers regarding current and future shipments.
  • Deal with suppliers in the UK and overseas to arrange cargo for shipment.
  • Weigh-in of both export and import vehicles on a weighbridge.
  • Arrange couriers for documents and sample goods.
  • Collate and file documents within the shipping office and accounts office.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience working in Shipping/Import/Export.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
