Job Title: SEMH English Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Teacher to join our Special School in Clacton-on-Sea. This full-time role offers a permanent contract, ideal for someone excited about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role:

As an SEMH English Teacher, you will deliver tailored and engaging English lessons designed to meet the unique needs of your students, helping them build essential literacy skills and develop confidence. You will work closely with support staff to foster a safe and structured learning environment where students can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons for students with SEMH needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other support staff to create a nurturing learning environment.
  • Support students in developing both academic and social-emotional skills.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure holistic student support.
  • Maintain a safe and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
Requirements:
  • Experience in teaching students with SEMH needs is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH teaching strategies and literacy instruction.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students, staff, and parents.
  • A relevant teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
