Project Engineer for Civils and Geotechnics

Location: Dartford and Port Talbot, Wales

Comparable job titles: Senior Agent, Site Agent, Project Manager, Lead Engineer

We are seeking a Project Engineer with experience in civil and geotechnical engineering to work on a complex power generation project. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of civil engineering principles and be able to work with departmental leads to produce required management plans.

The role will require time in the office for planning pre-construction and on-site work. The candidate will be responsible for liaising with Technical Leads, Design, H&S and Quality to get a major site ready for delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work with function and delivery leads to produce the ECI phase and pre-construction plans.
  2. Work with the temporary works department to produce the site establishment designs, including designs for access roads, piling mats and compound designs.
  3. Work with the Environmental and sustainability team to develop the required consent inputs.
  4. Appointed as TWC.
  5. Work with the Site manager/Construction managers to ensure alignment for mobilisation, liaising with the client and other stakeholders.
  6. Review and understand the client scope, and supplier requirements to ensure requirements are captured within the ECI and pre-construction plans.
  7. Liaise with the in-house delivery teams and subcontractors to ensure works are planned in compliance with client standards and the scope.
  8. Manage teams of in-house engineering professionals such as Site, Section and Senior Engineers.
  9. Maintain a positive safety culture on site, attending the morning briefings and coordination meetings where sub-contractors works are coordinated for the day ahead.
Requirements
  1. Strong Civil Engineering knowledge or Structural Engineering on large concrete projects.
  2. Comfortable in working with departmental leads to produce required management plans.
  3. Appointed to TWC or with the required experience.
  4. CPCS Appointed person.
  5. Experience working in a highly regulated environment such as Rail or Nuclear preferred.
  6. Communicates professionally, both orally and in writing; shares information and relays instructions.
  7. Works as One Team - Respects and co-operates with the team, sharing problems and accepting support. Adopts a friendly and approachable manner.
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Degree qualified or appropriate route into Civil or Structural Engineering.
  2. Chartered or working towards Chartership.

The role will require a period of 5 – 6 months in Dartford and moving to site in Port Talbot when ready.
