Teaching Assistant Required for Chelmsford Secondary School

This role is for a special school that provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for 65 pupils with SEMH and associated needs, including residential provision for 15 pupils. The school aims to prepare each child to leave as a confident young adult well-prepared for the future.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the teacher in delivering lessons and managing classroom behaviour
  • Assist students with special educational needs, particularly those with SEMH challenges
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require extra help
  • Contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support students in their social and emotional development
Requirements:
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of SEMH and experience working with students with similar needs
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths, with previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a secondary school setting

Working Conditions:
  • Working hours may vary, but generally follow the school timetable
  • May require occasional participation in school events or meetings outside of regular hours
  • Work primarily takes place within the school setting
