Clinical Coder Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to join our team at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Clinical Coder, you will be responsible for reviewing medical information from patient records and other electronic systems, and assigning codes in accordance with NHS England's classifications and national standards.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in clinical coding, working with a dedicated team of professionals who share your passion for delivering high-quality healthcare services.
The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work accurately under pressure. You will also have good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- To review medical information from patient records and assign codes in accordance with NHS England's classifications and national standards
- To use medical terminology and anatomy & physiology when making judgments in translating information where clinical description does not map to an exact code
- To work on own initiative within standard departmental procedures and manage day-to-day workloads, referring more complex issues to more senior colleagues
- To ensure that coding is carried out in an accurate, timely and complete manner to meet the Trust's 10 day deadline for statutory information requirements and financial flows
- 5 GCSEs or equivalent to include Mathematics / English
- NVQ Level 3
- Computer literate with experience of applying this in the work environment
- General adminstrative office experience
The post holder will be required to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, and may be required to travel to other sites. The salary for this role is £25,655 per annum (pro rata), plus benefits.
