We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Student Disability Adviser to join our Mental Health Advice Team. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with students with ongoing long-term mental health conditions, providing expert guidance and support to ensure their academic success.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with students disclosing mental health conditions, providing initial assessment, advice, and guidance on entitlements and reasonable adjustments.
- Develop a working alliance with students, using a solution-focused enabling approach to encourage self-efficacy and confidence.
- Liaise with external partners, including the NHS, to ensure seamless transitions of care and risk management.
- Respond to students in times of difficulty, illness, or crisis, exploring options and working towards best outcomes.
- Contribute to the University's Mental Health Charter, improving mental health awareness and confidence across the institution.
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification or work experience.
- Substantial casework experience with clients with long-term mental health issues and challenges.
- Proven experience of supporting people with diagnosed mental health conditions, involving effective management of complex and sensitive issues.
