Food Safety Specialist

The Role:

As a key member of the Food Safety & Quality team at Dawn Meats, you will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills in food safety, quality, and business operations. You will work closely with a dedicated team to maintain high standards of food safety and quality, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of food safety and quality procedures and document control.
  • Ensure the maintenance and updating of department files, including SOPs, risk assessments, HACCP documents, and quality management documents.
  • Conduct audits as scheduled and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of written SOPs.
  • Support the maintenance and management of non-conformant logs and log complaints.
  • Assist in investigating complaints, including root cause analysis.
  • Conduct microbiological and chemical sampling of finished products and raw materials as per sampling schedule.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, including customer audits.
  • Collaborate with the Food Safety and Quality team to monitor quality assurance, hygiene, and food safety activities.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a related discipline (Food Technology, Nutrition, Science).
  • Understanding and awareness of HSE requirements and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Strong financial understanding and business acumen.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • HACCP trained is an advantage.
  • The right to work in the UK.
