Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineer

Main Tasks:


The successful candidate will be responsible for the set up and completion of EMC test projects, delivering accurate results to customers. They will contribute to efficiency improvements, including the management, manipulation, and presentation of electronic test data for reports.


Key Responsibilities:



  • EMC testing in screened enclosure and in-situ environments
  • Electronic logbook keeping and data collation
  • Test plan and report writing (when required)
  • Test equipment and method development, evaluation, and validation
  • Test procedure generation, including photos and measurement uncertainty calculations
  • Providing assistance to customers during the failure phase of their EMC test programme and general consultancy
  • Validation of clients' requirements (may involve site visits)
  • Assistance to the sales team with information provision for quote generation
  • Specialist development in a specific testing area (e.g. rail, marine, radio EMC requirements)
  • Provision of training to engineers in specialist areas
  • Involvement in Continuous Improvement projects

Essential Qualifications:



  • An Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification or recent experience in a practical electrical/electronic engineering role
  • A self-driven and enthusiastic approach with a clear focus on high quality
  • A motivation to learn and develop technical skills
  • Ability to address testing in parallel with reporting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for dealing with customers at all levels
  • Flexibility and willingness to work offsite or conduct shift work (if required)
  • Computer literacy with good IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and bespoke test systems
  • A full driving licence and own vehicle for offsite testing and shift work

Desirable Qualifications:



  • Experience in an EMC Test Engineer role within a test house environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EMC Directive and/or relevant EMC test standards
  • Experience in running test projects from set up to completion, including report creation
