Collaborating with other Digital specialists, you will ensure our network supports secure, resilient, and highly available services for all applications and tools necessary for patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network and Network Security Guidance: Provide expert technical guidance in network and network security infrastructure, including telecoms.
  • VoIP Management: Manage and support Extreme, Cisco, and Mitel VoIP technologies.
  • Connectivity and Resilience: Ensure diverse and highly available connectivity for WAN and LAN technologies.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
  • Cybersecurity Collaboration: Collaborate with technical specialists to implement best practice Cyber Security controls.
  • Network Administration: Administer and configure network systems to ensure continuous service provision.
  • Automation and Documentation: Utilize scripting to automate routine tasks and maintain a documentation register.
  • Network Monitoring: Monitor all network infrastructure components effectively and document all systems.
  • Best Practice Documentation: Maintain best practice documentation, policies, and processes for professional network management.
  • Security Compliance: Ensure documented security controls comply with NHS and legislative standards.
  • Cybersecurity Enhancement: Analyze and act on CareCERT and relevant security bulletins to enhance cyber security.
  • Supplier Management: Liaise with suppliers to manage support calls and maintain effective communication.
  • Digital Project Management: Provide technical expertise and project management for Digital projects, including network infrastructure design and testing.
  • Infrastructure Team Contribution: Contribute to the Infrastructure Team's Programme of Work.
  • Digital Equipment Procurement: Advise on Digital equipment procurement, ensuring adherence to technical standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualifications: Degree or equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • Infrastructure Network and Security Experience: Extensive experience in an Infrastructure network and network security role (minimum Band 6 equivalent).
  • Complex Network Support: Proficient in supporting complex network infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, HSCN, Internet, Wireless, VPN, QoS, Telecoms, Firewalls, Mitel VoIP, Cisco, Extreme.
  • DNS and DHCP Management: Experience with DNS and DHCP management.
  • NHS Network Experience: Proven track record in supporting NHS network infrastructures in a secondary/tertiary care setting.
  • Routing Protocols: Skilled in routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP.
  • Clinical Systems Protocols: Experience with clinical systems protocols like DICOM and HL7.
  • Certifications: Cisco CCNA certification and ITIL qualifications.
