London, Greater London, United Kingdom National Theatre Full time
Music Logistics Manager Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Music Logistics Manager to join the National Theatre Music Team.

This role is crucial in fuelling the creation and use of music in its many diverse forms across all areas of the NT’s programming. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the physical delivery of the department’s operational activities, as well as becoming the go-to in-house resource for music technology and preparation.

The Music Logistics Manager will collaborate closely with the Sound & Video, Production, Props, Lighting and Stage Management departments to facilitate the integration of music into the rehearsal and performance process across all NT productions.

The role involves supervising, organising and coordinating the maintenance and development of the NT’s music resources and storage spaces, and will be pivotal in developing those as part of future projects with Sound & Video, Facilities and the NT Green Store.

Musical performances at the National Theatre take many forms, including live chamber music, large musicals with full orchestras, recording sessions with international composers, artists and musicians, and live music opportunities to support New Work, Learning and Development.

The Music Logistics Manager will play a key role in advancing music resources and delivery methods, with ongoing training and development opportunities available to stay at the forefront of best practices in the technical music arena.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of working within a live or recorded music production environment, ideally including professional musical theatre
  • Excellent administrative, organisational and IT skills with the ability to learn and operate all departmental systems
  • Experience of working within unionised environments and prescribed hours
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to work with an open mind to new or different ways of working to build strong and close relationships with a wide range of internal and external colleagues
  • Good experience in a similarly varied role, encompassing both the setting up of rehearsal spaces and band areas, the handling of instruments and equipment, and being responsible for performing materials (scores and band parts) in a professional environment
