About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team in the Gwent Area. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with complex mental health needs transition from long-term psychiatric care back to independent living within their local community.

As a specialist, you will work closely with a small caseload of up to 8 service users, building trusting relationships and supporting them in achieving their goals. This is an incredibly rewarding role for the right candidate who is passionate about making a positive impact on people's lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Service Users: Provide front-line support to service users based throughout the Gwent Area, ensuring they have choice and control in the delivery of their support.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medication as required, with training provided.
  • Care Planning: Work collaboratively with service users to develop and implement care plans that meet their individual needs.
  • Community Involvement: Support service users to access community activities, medical appointments, and other services as needed.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards it.
  • Training: Training in medication administration will be provided.
  • Experience: Experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs, disrupted attachments, interpersonal difficulties, and challenging behavior.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with service users.
