Waste Management Assistant

Job Overview
Hertfordshire County Council is committed to reducing waste and increasing recycling rates. We are seeking a self-motivated Waste Management Assistant to join our Recycling Centre service team.
About the Role
This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, assisting customers with waste disposal and ensuring site operations meet high standards. You will work alongside an established team to achieve our vision of increasing recycling rates and diverting waste from landfill in Hertfordshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Show and assist customers with putting their waste in the correct areas.
- Check permits for vans and trailers and verify types of waste.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
- Look for ways to improve customer service and recycling rates.
- Operate JCBs and compactors to compact waste (training provided).
Requirements
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive, and able to remain calm under pressure. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and be comfortable working in all types of weather conditions.

English Fluency
