Project Manager Job Description

Thames Water is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Waste team in London. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing cost-effective solutions for communities and overseeing project success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish a Proactive Health, Safety, and Environment Culture: Promote a proactive health, safety, and environment culture across complex and high-risk project portfolios and our service providers.
  • Develop and Deliver Optimised Projects: Develop and deliver optimised projects to achieve all regulatory, statutory, and internal outputs, deadlines, and targets.
  • Accountability and Governance: Ensure accountability throughout the project lifecycle, governance compliance, and internal/external stakeholder engagement lead to the smooth transition of project outcomes into the operational business.
  • Reputation Management: Actively protect, manage, and enhance Thames Water's reputation with external customers and stakeholders.
  • Project Brief Development: Develop project briefs, including supplementary information for the project's subsequent early contractor involvement phase.
  • Tender Package Development: Support the development and definition of the tender package(s), including the scope of work to support the Procurement team through each stage of the tender process, ensuring demanding timescales are met.
  • Route to Consent Strategy: Manage the project's 'route to consent' strategy, highlighting program and project risks relating to required consents, and considering any potential early works.
  • Contractor Performance Management: Manage and assure the performance of contractors to deliver project outcomes on time, cost, and quality.

Work Environment: This role is based in our Hybrid – Maple Lodge London office, and you will be expected to be present at the office and sites during your working week. We are open to full-time and part-time opportunities for this role, which is 36 hours a week, Monday through Friday. Candidate must have access to a car and hold a driving licence.

Requirements:
  • Background in Construction or Utilities: Have a background in construction or utilities-based projects.
  • Project Life Cycle Knowledge: Know the project's life cycle and how to communicate this with external and internal stakeholders.
