Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to lead the transformation of education inspection in Scotland. As Chief Inspector of Education in Scotland, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education and driving improvement in Scottish schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of a new inspection framework that prioritizes excellence and equity in education.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the Scottish Government's education reform agenda, working closely with key stakeholders to drive change and improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with education leaders, policymakers, and other key stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration and coordination.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to improve the quality of education in Scotland, including the development of new inspection tools and methodologies.
  • Work closely with the Scottish Government's education team to ensure that the inspection framework is aligned with the National Improvement Framework and other key education policies.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the Scottish Government on education policy and reform, drawing on your extensive experience and knowledge of the education sector.
  • Lead a team of experienced inspectors and education professionals to deliver high-quality inspection services and support to schools and education providers.
Requirements
  • Senior education professional with a proven track record of leading and delivering improvements in excellence and equity.
  • Experience of operating successfully at board or senior level in a complex organization, delivering cultural and high-profile programs of change.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and evidence to inform decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of experienced professionals.
