Job Description

Purpose:

To support the delivery of United Living Group's SHEQ strategy by providing specialist coaching, advice and guidance to staff and supply chain partners, to drive legislative compliance and promote continuous improvement.

To create, achieve and sustain world-class Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality performance, resulting in net zero and improved sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the SHEQ Advisors to support projects in delivering the company's SHEQ strategy, ensuring managers assume full responsibility for their discharge of responsibilities.
  • Provide appropriate SHEQ input into the tender and contract award process.
  • Act as a single point of contact for advice and expertise on SHEQ matters to project teams, ensuring the effectiveness of Construction Phase Plans during project lifecycles.
  • Manage the preparation of accident/incident investigations, establishing root causes and communicating learning points to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Challenge existing working methods to incorporate Health, Safety and Environmental best practice without compromising business priorities.
  • Contribute to a safe and secure culture through behaviour-based coaching at all levels within projects.
  • Liaise with the wider construction industry to share and implement lessons learned.
  • Coordinate, develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice on the CDM regulations covering various roles, such as Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.
  • Assist project team representatives in reviewing contractor competence and identifying training needs.
  • Provide monthly H&S data and safety statistics to the Head of SHEQ as needed.
  • Develop internal relationships to resolve issues, develop internal learning and identify opportunities for collaboration.
  • Collaborate with other SHEQ Managers to share information, knowledge and best practice.
  • Keep abreast of latest technology to aid processes within ULPS.
  • Proactive engagement with supply chain regarding findings within respective divisions, as well as sharing best practice.
  • Introduce local initiatives and campaigns, supporting wider ULPS/Group plans.
  • Conduct trend analysis for respective divisions to mitigate foreseeable risks at early stages.
  • Attend bid-handover and pre-start/mobilisation site meetings to ensure projects are compliant with required standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, minimum of 3 years. Ideally with background in ULPS nature of works such as cladding, high-rise, rooftop development, Building Safety Act, Asbestos etc.
  • NVQ/Diploma.
  • Environmental qualification such as IEMA.
  • ISO knowledge desirable.
  • Experience in managing people (Manager will have advisors reporting to them).
