Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmaceutical Dispenser to join our team at NHS Jobs. As a key member of our dispensary team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Dispensing: To process all relevant prescriptions as authorized by GPs and prescribing nurses, in accordance with the principles of good practice.
  • Stock Control: To assist in the preparation of all aspects of dispensing, stock control, ordering, and re-stocking of the dispensary.
  • Quality Assurance: To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and to verify the appropriateness of the item, dose, or labeling instructions with the authorizing doctor or duty doctor.
  • Financial Transactions: To collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
  • Inventory Management: To operate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the practice, with the objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimizing wastage through out-of-date stock.
  • Hygiene and Safety: To ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with the accompanying instructions and to maintain a high level of hygiene within the dispensary.
  • Communication: To promptly forward all invoices and dispensary-related correspondence to the practice manager or dispensary manager according to practice policy.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a dispensary or pharmacy setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and guidelines.
