Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our dispensing team to work hours over 4 days.

Key Responsibilities; Dispensing medications accurately and efficiently, managing repeat prescriptions, assisting in stock control and ordering

Ideally the candidate will hold an Pharmacy Services qualification (previously NVQ 2) or equivalent.

Strong communication and teamwork skills and a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to collaborative environment

Flexibility for additional hours to cover holiday and other absences is essential.

The Apples Medical Centre is a long established five partner practice of 5566 patients within sight of both historic Sherborne Castles. We are a modern thinking Dispensing Practice, with an emphasis on traditional continuity of care.

The Practice has a higher than average remuneration and a manageable doctor to patient ratio.We achieve high QOF points and our latest CQC inspection rated the Practice as Good.

We have a high patient satisfaction rate and dispense to 1975 of our patient population.

We commenced with eConsult, in additional to our Telephone consultations and Email communication. We offer of mixture of pre-bookable and book on the day.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To process allrelevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses whereappropriate, in accordance with the principles of good practice.

To assist in thepreparation of all aspects of dispensing, stock control, ordering andre-stocking of the dispensary

Job responsibilities-

Toensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against theprescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item,or about the dose or labelling instructions to check with the authorisingdoctor or duty doctor.

Tocollect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration onthe reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.

Toensure that all monies received or handled on behalf of the practice areappropriately stored and banked, and a record kept of all financialtransactions.

Topromptly forward all invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the practicemanager or dispensary manager according to practice policy.

Tooperate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the practice, withthe objective of ensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimisingwastage through out of date stock.

Toensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner in accordance with theaccompanying instructions.

Toensure that shelves and all work surfaces are regularly cleaned to maintain ahigh level of hygiene within the dispensary and that all dispensary equipmentis kept clean and is in good working order.

Totake prompt action in response to any drug alert bulletins that may be receivedfrom time to time.

Toensure that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and tomaintain a temperature control record/logbook.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

GCSE grades A-C or equivalent

Desirable

A Levels NVQ 2 Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification Dispensary - pharmacy experience

Experience

Essential

Dealing with members of the public both in person and on the telephone. Comfortable with using Computer. Working in an office environment

Desirable

Previous experience working in a GP practice environment. Use of SystmOne system - clinical system Dispensary - pharmacy experience
