Automation Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team in Poole, with the ability to commute from surrounding areas. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electro-mechanical engineering and experience in designing and implementing automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical and mechanical systems for automation projects, from concept to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to review mechanical designs and ensure they meet specifications.
  • Assist the Mechanical Engineering Manager in their duties and act as departmental manager when required.
  • Evaluate mechanical, electro-mechanical, and control system design approaches to meet functional performance requirements.
  • Develop mechanical sub-system and component requirements to inform electro-mechanical design and component selection.
  • Implement stepper motors based on system functional performance requirements.
Requirements:
  • Electro-mechanical experience of servo system design.
  • Knowledge of robotic systems and their application in industrial automation, pneumatic systems, servo and motor systems, and component selection.
  • Prior experience in a similar position with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, building special purpose machinery and bespoke automated projects.
  • Electrical/Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical/Mechatronics degree or equivalent, with experience of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Ability to conceive and develop innovative, practical, and robust electro-mechanical designs based on sound engineering principles.
  • Ability to analyze mechanical behavior, troubleshoot, and diagnose performance problems, and propose robust solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional project environment.
  • Proficiency in creating 3D CAD models and assemblies.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English.
