Automation Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team at Cognize Technical Recruitment, a specialist Automation & Technical Recruitment agency. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical and mechanical systems for our automation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical and mechanical systems for automation projects, from concept to manufacturing.
  • Work with engineering teams to review mechanical designs and ensure they meet specifications and requirements.
  • Provide technical support to colleagues and team members throughout the solution process and product development cycle.
  • Evaluate mechanical, electro-mechanical, and control system design approaches to meet functional performance requirements.
  • Develop mechanical sub-system and component requirements to inform and drive detailed electro-mechanical design and component selection.
  • Selection, design, and implementation of stepper motors based on system functional performance requirements.
  • Design, position, tuning, and troubleshooting of servo control systems.

Requirements:

  • Electro-mechanical experience of servo system design.
  • Knowledge and experience of robotic systems and their application within industrial automation, pneumatic systems, servo and motor systems, specification, and selection of components and parts used to build bespoke automated solutions.
  • Prior experience of working in a similar position with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge building special purpose machinery, working on bespoke automated projects.
  • Electrical/Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical/Mechatronics Degree or similarly high-level degree encompassing experience of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
  • Ability to conceive and develop innovative, practical, and robust electro-mechanical designs based on sound engineering principles.
  • Ability to use a system's mechanical behavior, trouble, and diagnose performance problems and propose robust and practical solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities and proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional project environment.
  • Proficiency in the creation of 3D CAD models and emblies.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills (working language is English).
