Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join Cedar's Ward as a Deputy Ward Manager. The role involves delivering patient care, undertaking deputy ward manager responsibilities, and supporting the Ward Manager in managing patient care and treatment.

Main Duties

The post holder will be a qualified RMN, responsible for delivering all aspects of care to patients on the ward. They will also undertake the responsibilities of a deputy ward manager and provide managerial support and leadership to junior staff.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

The post holder will support the Ward Manager in managing the care and treatment of older people on the inpatient unit. They will also provide managerial support and leadership to a group of staff and deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence.

Person Specification
  • RMN qualification
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
Experience
  • 2 years post-qualification experience at Band 5 or above working with older people
  • Ability to implement change
  • Good leadership and operational management skills
Knowledge
  • Ability to advise nursing and medical staff in best practice
  • Facilitation of MDT training
  • Knowledge and understanding of current Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act Legislation
Work-Related Circumstances
  • Use of a car or access to a suitable means of transport to travel across the Trust footprint
  • Able to work unsocial hours, including weekends, bank holidays, and night duty
Skills and Abilities
  • Evidence of ability to provide specialist mental health assessment and risk assessment/management and be accountable for decision making
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide coherent reports and documentation according to Trust documentation standards
  • Ability to work with other professionals to promote a multi-disciplinary approach to clinical decision making and care planning
