Job Summary:

As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the career of a talented professional who is passionate about public health and safety.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Undertake a variety of interventions, including programmed inspections of food businesses, investigating complaints, participating in sampling programmes, supporting infectious disease investigations, investigating accidents and health and safety complaints.
  • Provide professional and technical advice to businesses and colleagues, responding to a range of enquiries.
  • Gain experience of other aspects of Environmental Health within the wider department to further professional competencies.
  • Assume responsibility for enforcement-led casework, managing approved establishments and other high-risk process businesses, and contribute to our successful Primary Authority Partnership.

Requirements:

  • Be well-organized, efficient, and dependable, with the ability to work within a fast-moving and challenging environment.
  • Be able to adjust to demands and define priorities, work rapidly and accurately, and have the ability to communicate effectively with other professionals, elected members, senior managers within the Council, and the general public.
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours, including evening and weekend work, and be willing to participate in the out-of-hours service.
  • Hold a full driving license and have access to a car for work purposes.
