Credit Controller

Robert Walters is seeking a skilled Credit Controller to join their team in Birmingham. As a Credit Controller, you will be responsible for delivering a seamless credit control service to internal and external clients, maximising collection performance while capturing full visibility of client debtor ledger profiles.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver a proactive credit control service to clients, ensuring timely collection of rents and service charges.
- Support the wider management team by liaising with client accountants, surveyors, and clients to ensure an efficient and effective credit control service.
- Ownership of the collection of rents and service charges within a specific time frame, particularly around lease quarter days.
- Proactive tenant contact to identify disputes and potential non-payers.
- Drive the delivery of debt collection, meeting departmental KPIs, SLAs, and internal targets.
- Work with the cashiering team to ensure accurate and timely cash allocation.
- Maintain tenant ledgers, including reconciliations and contact information.
- Timely management of tenant accounts when chasing debt.
- Maintain accurate debt commentary and categorisation.
- Provide advice to stakeholders on the status of the debt and suggested next steps.
- Liaise with enforcement officers and solicitors in debt escalation matters.
- Manage unallocated cash and assist in clearing income items from bank reconciliations.
- Regular and periodic reporting to internal and external clients within Excel and system-generated reports.
- Participate in conference calls and meetings with surveyors, client accountants, and clients to report debt progress.
- Be an active member of the credit control team and contribute to team meetings.
- Regular review and update of process notes and other internal documents.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in process and procedural spheres.
