Senior Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team as a Team Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff in the automated Biochemistry section, ensuring the provision of a 24/7 shift roster across Nottingham City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre.
Main DutiesThe Team Leader will be responsible for:
- Organising the day-to-day operational management of the section, ensuring optimal performance of equipment, materials, and staff.
- Providing professional leadership and line management for the staff of the section, including work planning and rosters, training and mentoring, performance management, and other HR issues.
- Providing specialist advice on technical and scientific issues within the post holder's area of expertise to the Deputy Service Manager/Service Manager.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large, teaching hospital comprising two sites, the Queens Medical Centre and the City Hospital. We provide a range of national and internationally renowned specialist services and are at the forefront of new surgical procedures and research programmes. We are home to the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre, the Nottingham Children's Hospital, and in partnership with the University of Nottingham, we host a Biomedical Research Centre carrying out vital research into hearing, digestive diseases, respiratory, musculoskeletal disease, mental health, and imaging.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading and managing a team of Biomedical Scientists and support staff in the automated Biochemistry section.
- Ensuring the provision of a 24/7 shift roster across Nottingham City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre.
- Providing professional leadership and line management for the staff of the section.
- Providing specialist advice on technical and scientific issues within the post holder's area of expertise.
The successful candidate will need to have:
- State registration as a Biomedical Scientist (HCPC).
- Completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio or equivalent.
- MSc or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Management qualification or relevant equivalent experience and short courses.
The following qualifications and experience are desirable:
- IBMS membership.
- Other relevant qualifications or knowledge gained through short courses.
The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly within the automated section of Clinical Biochemistry, ensuring the provision of a 24/7 shift roster across Nottingham City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre.
